Linda Winkler Receives CAUT Award

We are pleased to announce that Linda Winkler, University of Regina Librarian and a long term URFA volunteer, has been awarded the CAUT Academic Librarians' Distinguished Service Award, at the recent CAUT Council meeting.

Linda has been at the University of Regina for 38 years, and has made significant and sustained contributions to the status of librarians at the institution and beyond during her career. She was active in URFA from its earliest days and was involved in the successful efforts to ensure that librarians were included in URFA's original certification order in 1977. Since then, Linda has worked with URFA in many capacities: as a long-term member of the Grievance Committee and its Chair for three years; as an even longer-term member of the Executive (twelve years in total); as a member of the negotiating team (twice); and as a member of the URFA's Internal Management Committee.

Linda's contributions extend beyond the local level. She served for many years on the Board of the Saskatchewan Library Association, including five as the Director for Academic Libraries. Linda has also had a significant impact at the national level through her work with CAUT. She was a member of the CAUT Task Force on Campus Violence, and she was a member and then Chair of the Librarian's Committee in the early 90s. These are just a few of Linda's many important contributions locally and nationally.

Please join us in congratulating Linda for receiving this well-deserved national recognition and thanking her for her long years of dedicated service to URFA and academic librarians across Canada and internationally.
