Message from Provost re: Acting University Librarian

30 June 2015

Members of the campus community,

It is a pleasure to inform you that Colleen Murphy has accepted the President's offer of appointment as Acting University Librarian for a one-year period commencing 1 July 2015. The recommendation for this appointment followed consultation with the Library Leadership Team, librarians, archivists, and Library staff.

As an alumna and long-time member of the University community, Colleen is well known to many on campus. A brief biography of Colleen can be found at http://www.uregina.ca/president/searches-reviews/appointments-renewals.html.

Over the 2015-16 academic year a national search will be carried out for a full-term University Librarian, with a target appointment date of 1 July 2016. The Search Advisory Committee is now being formed, and regular updates on the progress of the search will be posted to http://www.uregina.ca/president/searches-reviews/searches/university_librarian_search.html .

I want to take this opportunity to thank Bill Sgrazzutti for his fine service as University Librarian since 2011. Over that period Bill has worked with librarians, archivists, and Library staff to introduce a host of new program and service initiatives that support teaching, learning, and research. Bill has returned to in-scope duties in the Library.

I wish also to thank Associate University Librarian Peter Resch for stepping into the Acting University Librarian role for the past few months.

Sincerely,
Thomas Chase
Provost and Vice-President (Academic)
