Archer Library Releases 2018- 2019 Annual Report

Libraries today are vibrant and dynamic places and the University of Regina Dr. John Archer Library is no exception. Archer Library is bursting with student activity. With over 83,000 visits (faculty, staff, alumni but primarily, students) in October 2019 alone, Archer Library is a preferred hub for the over 16,000 students who call the University of Regina their educational home.

We are pleased to share with you the 2018-19 Dr. John Archer Library Annual Report. The report provides a glimpse into the work of Archer Library – our people, our commitment to communities and how the leadership, services and resources we provide support student success and research that has real impact in our communities. Archer Faculty and Staff are key partners in the ever-evolving teaching, learning and research community.

The report summarizes some of our collective achievements in 2018-19 a few of which include:

  • Helping campus celebrate milestone Anniversary events such as the Cougars men’s Basketball 50th Anniversary. What a pleasure it was to guide them through researching their own history and for Archives staff to choose and create displays of archival materials that enhanced their event.
  • Celebrating the re-opening of the College Avenue Campus by curating and installing 113 works of artwork from the President’s Art Collection including a significant collection of Inuit art.
  • Supporting student success by creating and implementing specialized instruction on library literacy and academic integrity for Business 100 students.
  • Collaborating with Dr. Orland Hoeber and graduate student Dolinkumar Patel from the Computer Science Department on a research study investigating academic search behavior in digital libraries.
