Celebrating Open Access Week

October 19 – 25, 2020 is International Open Access Week. A global event now entering its tenth year, Open Access Week is an opportunity for the academic and research community to continue to learn about the potential benefits of Open Access, to share what they’ve learned with colleagues, and to help inspire wider participation in helping to make Open Access a new norm in scholarship and research. This year’s theme is “Open with Purpose: Taking Action to Build Structural Equity and Inclusion.”

As part of Open Access Week, the University of Regina Archer Library invites you to attend two workshops: Open Access Publishing for Researchers and Introduction to Scholar's Portal Dataverse. To learn more about Open Access, check out our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages throughout the week.

Open Access Publishing for Researchers

October 19, 2020 12PM Saskatchewan

Any researcher (other than graduate student grant holders) who received a Tri-Agency (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC) grant after May 1, 2015, is required to provide open and free access to resulting journal articles within one year of publication. This workshop is for those who have received these grants and want to learn more about their options for complying with the Tri-Agency Open Access Policy on Publications. Topics will include various journal types (green/gold), author agreements, agreement addendums, and the Library’s oURspace Mediated Deposit Service.

Introduction to Scholar’s Portal Dataverse

October 22, 2020 12PM Saskatchewan

The Tri-Agency (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC) will be releasing a policy requiring researchers who receive funding to make their data openly available upon publication. The University of Regina is subscribed to Scholar’s Portal Dataverse. With Dataverse, researchers can store their data and collaborate with others, publish their data, and meet Tri-Agency funding requirements. This workshop will provide an overview of Dataverse: signing up for an account, creating a dataverse, and uploading datasets.
