Georgia

Who are you and where are you from?

My name is Georgia Leslie and I am a proud Canadian Citizen from a Barbadian ancestry and I wave both flags.

What are you studying?

I am studying Environmental Health and Science, a programme offered through First Nations’ University, and the Faculty of Engineering, University of Regina.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

In the next five years I will be working with water quality management, or disease control.

What makes you successful academically?

Successes comes from persevering with your studies even when it hurts; seeking help from awesome educators, immersing yourself in strong social supports, and resist temptation and procrastination, that makes us doubt our value.

What is/was your summer job? How did it help you with your educational goals?

I don’t have a summer job yet, but last year working in the Yukon was awesome. I gained the opportunity, to show how knowledgeable I have become in the Environmental Health and Science discipline.

What would be your message to those following in your footsteps?

Take all your basic courses first, include music in your electives, try to get more sleep and be on time for Dr. Ng’s class…he loves to give pop-quizzes first thing in the morning.
