Accessibility

Conservatory of Performing Arts’ courses and programs are delivered at the inter-connected College Building (CB), Conservatory (CN) and Gallery Building (GA) as well as Darke Hall (DH), located at 2155 College Avenue between Cornwall and Scarth Street. As these buildings were constructed in approximately 1912, they do not have many modern features such as elevators that assist persons who require special needs access. Nevertheless, the Centre for Continuing Education has committed to make every possible physical accommodation, in accordance with the U of R policy, that may be required by its students and customers.

The main floor of the College Building is accessible to wheelchairs or other motorized personal transportation devices via a ramp on the south side of the building. The door entering the building is equipped with a push-type of bar device that can be operated by most persons with physical disabilities. Persons with physical disabilities are able to access the main floor of the College Building including several classrooms, coffee room, and accessible washrooms in the Conservatory. The Gallery Building has a ramp leading into its front entrance on the north side of the building.
