Andrea Hedlund has been teaching at the Conservatory of Performing Arts since 2005. Andrea began her own studies at the Conservatory at the age of four. She enjoys providing private and group lessons for the community that fostered her own early love of music.

Andrea completed a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance under Dr. Howard Leyton-Brown. Her teaching style has been most influenced by Leyton-Brown and her studies with renowned Suzuki pedagogue Helen Brunner. In her studio Andrea enjoys teaching various styles of music with a foundation in classical technique. This approach lead her to co-create Viva Violins – a summer camp for young violinists. In her teaching Andrea encourages musical excellence, creativity, collaboration and community engagement.

Andrea has been performing with the Regina Symphony Orchestra since 2004. She has also developed several outreach programs with the RSO. Currently, Andrea is the coordinator of Strings for Change, a program that provides violin lessons for over 50 students at Arcola Community School. Last year Andrea began a new initiative with the Eden Care Communities where she provides music classes for seniors.

Andrea enjoys exploring her creativity through writing music and collaborating with other artists in the community. This has led her to work with artists such Son Howler, Dagan Harding Band, Wolf Willow, Scott Pettigrew, Snake River, Julia McDougall, Ryan Hicks, Mike Edel, JP Hoe, Riva Farrell-Racette and Scott Richmond.
