Certificate in Public Relations
 
This certificate will provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to be effective in the public relations/communications field. Students gain practical learning experiences and have the opportunity to meet and learn from other public relations professionals.

Students are required to complete four required courses and two electives for a minimum total of 15 credit hours.

Required (core) courses:

PR 100 Foundations of Public Relations (Prerequisite to all PR courses)

PR 101 Writing and Editing for Public Relations

PR 200 Strategic Communication Planning

PR 201 Communication Tools & Techniques

Electives (any 2 courses):

AE 19 Essentials of Writing and Research OR 

ENGL 100 Critical Reading and Writing I

PR 35 Public Relations in Non-Profit and Volunteer Organizations

PR 37 Research and Evaluation

PR 38 Ethical/Critical Issues in Public Relations Work

PR 39 Media Relations

PR 40 Electronic Information Design

PR 41 Intranet Usability

PR 42 Approaches to Fundraising
