Submit Ethics, Animal Care, and/or Hazardous Materials Protocol(s)

Many proposals require the applicant to indicate whether human ethics approval, animal care protocols, or hazardous materials protocols will be required to carry out the research. In some cases, if approvals or certifications are already in place, there is an opportunity to submit documentation of the certification with the proposal.

In cases in which approval/certification will be sought after a grant is awarded, the applicant must obtain approval and report it to the sponsor before the awarded funds are released. In some cases, approvals can be deferred if earlier phases of the research do not require them. See Ethics, Animal Care, and Hazardous Materials for information on when ethics and other protocols are needed and how to apply for them.
