How would the Arts Internship Work?

Host organizations (government, non-profit organizations, private business) provide supervision, assistance and direction for the interns in a workplace environment. Host organizations are asked to make a financial contribution to cover university and administration costs. The Faculty of Arts and the Co-op Office will screen projects to ensure that the placement creates career-relevant experience.

How will participating in the Aboriginal Arts Internship program affect my student status and my ability to receive post-secondary band funding?

Each First Nation Band has different policies and procedures for their students. Some Bands have told us that they would support students who choose the path of Internship; other bands were not sure. If you are interested in this option we will send information to your post-secondary coordinator and discuss this program with them.  If your Band feels it cannot support the program, then you would be free to withdraw from the program.
