TERRA Lab

Terra Lab

The Environmental Research and Response Applications (TERRA) Lab was established in 2003 to serve the advanced geomatics needs of students in Geography.  It is housed in CL 330.2 and is run under the direction of Dr. Julia Siemer.

TERRA houses 9 high performance workstations, each equipped with dual flat-screen monitors. The TERRA computers are networked together and to TerraServer - an online file server with 2 Tb of disk storage.  The TERRA Lab also houses a 44" plotter.

Scientific Posters

Here are some design tips if you have been asked to create a poster as part of your Terra Lab work:

  • Use Microsoft PowerPoint to create your poster.
  • Set your page size to:
    • A0 (841 x 1,189 mm / 33.1 × 46.8 in); or
    • ANSI E (34 x 44 in / 864 × 1118 mm).
  • The smallest font you should use is 18 pt.
