Forward from the Dean

Welcome! On behalf of our graduate faculty, students and support staff, thank you for your interest in graduate studies at our university. We are especially proud of the growing list of programs being offered at our institution. We hope that as you review the information available in this calendar that you will find needed answers to your questions and acquire an appreciation of the enthusiasm and pride that we have in our graduate and research programs.

The decision to pursue graduate studies is an extremely important one. Each year in Canada, more than 20,000 students complete a master's degree, and 4,000 or more complete graduate studies at the doctoral level to provide themselves with additional educational advancement. In a world where an advanced education is increasingly critical in the arts, the sciences, government, industry, and the social services, your investment in graduate education will make a vital difference to your future. Planning for the future is an important activity to ensure your own readiness to benefit from the opportunities that occur. The University of Regina is committed to providing its students with the means to achieve this professional edge.

The Graduate Calendar provides an overview of the graduate faculty’s mission and goals, academic policies and services, programs and course offerings, as well as information about program requirements. We trust that you will find it a useful resource whether you are a new or continuing graduate student. Please recognize that the Calendar provides basic information on programs, and if additional information is desired, do not hesitate to contact our office or the individual departments. Most departments have a graduate faculty coordinator who advises prospective and enrolled students on their programs of study.

To prospective students, thank you again for your interest, and we invite you to contact us should you have questions or requests. To the students already with us, we offer our best wishes for success in your studies and that your time in graduate school will prove to be an enjoyable, stimulating and rewarding experience. Seize the opportunities and make the most of them.

Rod A. Kelln, Ph.D.
Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research
