- Bruce Anderson was
featured in Regina’s newest newspaper Metro News on April 3
discussing Saskatchewan’s increasing wages.
- Faculty and staff of the
Paul J Hill School of Business are proud to announce the success
of one of their BBA students, Adam Reeson, in the Pacific
North West Economic Region (PNWER) Business Ideas Competition.
To enter the competition, students submitted a 3 minute video
about a proposed new business venture. The top four submissions,
including Adam's submission, earned an invitation to
Entrepreneurial Boot Camp at Royal Roads University in Victoria,
BC. Students at this boot camp will spend two days working
intensively on their business development with expert mentors.
Congratulations to Adam, and thanks to Chris Street for taking
the lead in organizing the University of Regina entries to this
competition. We also want to acknowledge the help and support of
Bruce Anderson and Bob Kayseas of the Faculty of
Business Administration, Riley Moynes and Adam Burwell of Living
Sky Media (www.LivingSkyMedia.com),
and Rebecca Gibbons at the University of Regina.
The PNWER Business Ideas Competition was open to all
universities/colleges of the Pacific North West Economic Region
(more than 50 schools in total) and each school was invited to
hold an internal competition where students submitted a three
minute video about a business idea. The best videos from each
participating university were submitted to the PNWER competition
and underwent an adjudication process. Through this process the
top four entries were selected for the opportunity to attend
Boot Camp. More detailed information about the process can be

the government appeal of the essential services legislation.
- The UR Business Students’
Society’s participated in the 5 Days for the Homeless
campaign for the third year in a row to raise awareness and
funds for homelessness in Regina. Thanks to generous support
from families, the university, and the Regina community, the
group raised $19,228.49 for Carmichael Outreach. The campaign

- The Hill JDC West team
was featured in a news release on the U of R website on Monday,
January 16 celebrating their
1st overall placing at the JDC West Competition in Edmonton
January 13 to 15th. The team of 48 students was made up of
13 individual teams. Several of the individual teams placed in
the top three including: 1st in Marketing, 2nd in Strategy, 2nd
in MIS, 2nd in Sport, 2nd in Participation, 3rd in Finance. The
team was also featured in the
Leader Post on Wednesday, January 18 (p. D1) with an article
highlighting their accomplishments. Co-chair Kyle Gibson was
also interviewed by CBC Radio on Wednesday, January 18.
- Wally Lockhart was
featured in a news item on the
U of R website on Thursday, January 12 regarding his Health
System Report Cards. He was also interviewed by CHAB Radio
on Thursday, January 12, CBC Radio and CJME Radio on Friday,
January 13, CTV News on Friday, January 13, and featured in an

- UR Investing was featured
in an article in the
Leader Post on Monday, January 9 (p. D1). The article
outlined the specifics of program and featured quotes from the
Darryl Yasinowski who is a sessional lecturer and one of
the program advisors as well as students Ben Waite,
Luke Davis and Shane MacNaughton. Darryl also
discussed UR Investing on NewsTalk 980 on Tuesday, January 10.

The ICBC team was featured in a
news release on the U of R website celebrating their
accomplishments at the Inter-Collegiate Business Competition in
Kingston January 5 to 7th. Four teams (9 students) from the Paul
J. Hill School of Business went to the final round of the
competition representing the U of R in the Human Resources,
Business Policy, Marketing and Debate categories. The HR team
finished in first place and the Business Policy team finished in
second place overall in their categories. The team was also
featured in the Leader Post on Wednesday, January 11 (p. D1)
with an article highlighting their accomplishments. Sean
Tucker was featured on Global news on Tuesday, January 10
discussing the ICBC team’s success. An article was also featured
in the Regina Sun on Sunday, January 22 (p. 36). Students
Andrew Polasek and Taylor Carson were interviewed for
800 CHAB radio on their ICBC experience. The interview aired on
Tuesday, January 24.

Ron Camp was interviewed by
Global TV on Tuesday, January 3 regarding a report
released by the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives entitled
“Canada’s CEO Elite 100, The 0.01%”. In particular the interview
focused on the growing income gap in Canada and the finding that
in 2011, the top 100 CEOs in Canada were compensated 189 times
more than the average Canadian worker.
