Extended Studies in First Nations Language
This extended studies program is designed to support the learning, teaching, and revitalization of Indigenous languages within a culturally grounded education framework. It develops skills in areas such as language fluency, structure, oral traditions, and curriculum development, helping students build both linguistic knowledge and instructional capacity.
The program emphasizes preservation of Indigenous languages as a vital component to cultural identity and prepares learners for roles in language education and community revitalization initiatives.
Program Requirements
Applicants to this program must hold a Bachelor of Education degree with some Cree and Saulteaux language background and want to increase their knowledge and training in First Nations language teaching. Fluency in a First Nations Language is recommended.
