Paul Dederick
Paul Dederick is an award-winning journalist and communications professional with a proven track record in strategic communications, media relations (from both sides!), issues management, storytelling, and leadership. Now semi-retired, he’s able to combine two of his greatest passions through instructing - working with people and working with words.
Paul has worked in various leadership capacities, including Managing Editor at CBC Saskatchewan and Director of Communications and Public Relations for the University of Regina. He also worked with the Saskatchewan RCMP, leading national and international communications on high-profile incidents and issues such as the Humboldt Broncos bus crash and the killing of Colten Boushie.
Paul prides himself on his teaching and mentoring skills that feature a little gentle humour and a lot of genuine humanity that have proven to inspire employees and students alike.
A graduate of both the University of Regina and the University of Saskatchewan, his professional accomplishments include; leading all U of R communications through the complexities of the COVID-19 pandemic, winning a Gemini Award (now the Canadian Screen Awards) for Best Local Television Newscast while at CBC, and co-authoring “Looking Back: True Tales from Saskatchewan’s Past,” a book based on the regional television series he created and produced.
