The Lois and Thomas Glenn 2024 Visiting Artist in Music - Dr. Jeffrey Allen Murdock
Dr. Jeffrey Allen Murdock, esteemed 2021 Grammy winner as Music Educator of the Year, is the University of Regina’s 2023-24 Lois and Thomas Glenn Visiting Artist in Music.
Dr. Murdock's upcoming visit promises to be a transformative experience for students, music enthusiasts, and the broader community.
On November 13 and 14, 2023, Dr. Murdock will join forces with students from the U of R's Music Department, presenting lectures, and leading working sessions. On November 14, the University will open its doors to high school students from across southern Saskatchewan for a free choral workshop. Dr. Murdock will share his expertise as a conductor and clinician to these young talents, providing invaluable insights and techniques.
Concert and Lecture Recital
His visit will culminate in a special public concert and lecture recital at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14. Music aficionados and history enthusiasts alike will enjoy a captivating performance at historic Darke Hall. Dr. Murdock, accompanied by pianist Christopher Leysath, will take the audience on an inspiring journey through "The History of Black Music." This performance will also feature voice students from the University of Regina, promising an unforgettable evening of musical excellence.
All events – including the Tuesday evening concert – are free of charge. However, due to limited space, high school students interested in attending the choral workshop are encouraged to pre-register by November 1 by contacting chris.macrae@uregina.ca.
