From Bach to Gershwin - Jean-Willy Kunz on Organ

Bach, Gershwin, and Philip Glass -- all on a magnificent pipe organ?

Jean-Willy Kunz, the internationally-acclaimed organ virtuoso of the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, is coming to Western Canada during the week of Bach's 340th birthday, but only to Saskatchewan and for two shows only. His spectacular programme in both Saskatoon and here in Regina will lead off with the sensational and grand 16-minute Bach Prelude and Fugue in E flat major (BWV 552). The remainder of the program contains brilliant 20th century pieces by Morel (Priere), Halley (Toccata Andromeda), Glass (Mad Rush), and Diemer (Fiesta), and closes the fantastic evening with a somehow-transcribed-for-organ version of George Gershwin's epic masterpiece Rhapsody in Blue, originally written in 1924 when Gershwin was only 25 years old.

No tickets in advance: admission is via cash at the door, $25 regular but $15 for students. These discounted prices are courtesy of the Royal Canadian College of Organists, which is sponsoring the tour.
