About the Event
Since 2001, DotCooperation has been instrumental in helping cooperatives worldwide to create a strong online presence and strengthen the cooperative movement. Most famously, DotCooperation manages the global “.coop” and “.creditunion” domains, which has cultivated brand recognition and legitimacy for the international co-operative movement.
In this Co-operative Conversation, Tom Ivey, the Community Development Manager at DotCooperation, will provide a snapshot of the global cooperative online identity by introducing the Cooperative World Map – an exciting new initiative recently launched in Delhi as part of the International Year of the Cooperative 2025. Tom will also provide some interesting trends related to the global online presence of cooperatives, such as whether the number of cooperative domains has increased and, if so, where are we seeing new cooperatives appear?
About our Speaker
Tom Ivey, the Community Development Manager at DotCooperation, is dedicated to the education, promotion, and support of the global network of cooperatives. Since joining DotCooperation in 2016, he has consistently expressed that being part of the cooperative community has given him a feeling of “coming home.” Tom is an enthusiastic advocate for co-ops and can often be seen presenting on digital competency at online and in-person events
About Co-op Conversations
The Canadian Centre for the Study of Co-operatives' (CCSC) Co-op Conversations is an online gathering for co-operative sector professionals to learn from others in the field and exchange information in a casual setting. Each Co-op Conversation will be held during lunch hours (Saskatchewan time) on the first Wednesday of the month.
Each Co-op Conversation will be kick-started with a 15-minute presentation by an invited speaker who is working on or thinking about something new, challenging, or inspiring. Following the presentation, we’ll facilitate a broad conversation. Sometimes participants will be broken into small groups to discuss ideas. Other times the floor will be opened for questions, comments, and dialogue from everyone.
