U of R Department of Theatre Presents Under Milk Wood

Tick tock tick tock
Come to a time forgot.

In the whimsical, sleeping Welsh village of Llareggub, spirits stir and secrets whisper in the night. Dylan Thomas’s Under Milk Wood is a lyrical, dreamlike journey into the hearts and minds of its eccentric inhabitants. In the darkness, their innermost thoughts, dreams, and desires are unveiled. Come hear the Voices, from Captain Cat, haunted by the ghosts of drowned sailors, to the lovesick tailor Mog Edwards, and the glamorous Lilly Smalls.

It's a world where innocence is as palpable as the mischievous whispers of a moonlit sea, yet there's always a playful, sometimes spooky, bump in the night. Thomas’s words dance between the ethereal and the earthy, inviting you to listen in on the town's collective subconscious—a place where the living and the dead, the real and the imagined, are forever intertwined.

Step into the world of Dylan Thomas’ timeless classic Under Milk Wood, directed by The University of Regina Theatre Department’s current Artist-in-Residence, our 2025 Distinguished Alumni, and one of Canada’s most exciting Theatre Artists, Munish Sharma. Come experience his bold reimagining of this classic lyric play examining the longings, dreams and secrets simmering under ordinary lives. Funny, tender and heartbreakingly human, we invite you to come and share the magic.
