The University of Regina today announced that a new member has been appointed to its Board of Governors. Roger Brandvold, appointed by the Government of Saskatchewan through an Order in Council, joined the Board on March 25, 2015.

Brandvold has been a Partner and Senior Vice-President with Connor Clark & Lunn Private Capital Ltd., Canada’s largest independent money manager, for more than 10 years. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice-President with Greystone Managed Investments from 1998 to 2004, and Vice-President and National Sales Manager with CIBC Wealth Management in Toronto.

Brandvold has extensive experience on a variety of provincial and national boards.  He served as Chairman and Director of the Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club from 2005 to 2014, was a member of the CFL Board of Governors from 2008 to 2014, and Brandvold currently serves on the Amenity Health Care Board.  He also co-chaired the 2013 Grey Cup, and has served on the Boards of the Assiniboia Club, South Saskatchewan Arthritis Society, Investment Dealers Association, and University of Regina Rams.

Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Brandvold attended the University of Saskatchewan and completed the Executive MBA program at the School of Business at Queen’s University. He is a certified Chartered Investment Manager and Chartered Financial Planner. He played junior hockey in Moose Jaw and Saskatoon, and was a member of the University of Saskatchewan hockey team.

Brandvold will serve a three-year term, taking the place of Board member and Past Chair Paul McLellan. McLellan was appointed to the Board in September 2008 and served two full terms, acting as Vice-Chair for one year (2010-11), as Chair from 2011 to 2013, and as Past Chair from 2013-2015.

In addition, Vice-Chair Daniel Kwochka, a partner with the law firm of McKercher LLP, has been appointed to serve a second term from March 25, 2015 to March 25, 2018. He has served as the Board’s Vice-Chair since August 1, 2013.

“It is an honour to work with our Board of Governors – dedicated leaders who actively promote our academic mission of teaching, research and public service,” said University President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Vianne Timmons. “I would like to welcome Mr. Brandvold to this group, congratulate Mr. Kwochka on his reappointment, and thank Mr. McLellan and the other Board members for their outstanding service to the University of Regina.”
