RCE Saskatchewan

The University of Regina is a founding member of the Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development in Saskatchewan (RCE Saskatchewan). RCE Saskatchewan is a network of educational institutions, community groups and non-profits that seek to promote transformative sustainability education in Saskatchewan and share best practices. RCE Saskatchewan has chosen to focus on 9 thematic educational issues:

  1. Building Sustainable Communities
  2. Climate Change
  3. Health and Healthy Lifestyles
  4. Farming and Local Food Production, Consumption, and Waste Minimization
  5. Reconnecting to Natural Prairie Ecosystems Supporting
  6. Adapting and Bridging Cultures for Sustainability
  7. Sustainable Infrastructure including Water and Energy
  8. K-12 Education for Sustainable Development
  9. Youth

RCE Sustainability Awards

Each year in Saskatchewan different projects take place all across the province that help to promote excellence in Education for Sustainable Development. To help showcase these projects, RCE Saskatchewan hosts an annual recognition event where educational institutions, community groups and other members of the public can find out more about these projects as well as discuss best practices and lessons learned. The University of Regina is proud to have received over 5 Sustainability Awards.

RCE Saskatchewan’s 2017 Recognition Event will be held on May 3rd, 2017 in Hafford, Saskatchewan. To apply for an award for your project or to nominate a project for an award please visit the RCE Recongition Event website. The deadline for completed applications is March 31st, 2017.
