Research Week 2025

Research Week 2025 takes place from October 27-31, 2025 with the UR Taste of Research happening November 5th. We celebrate the vibrant graduate students and research community on campus. The week featured a range of events, including panel discussions and student research showcases, offering opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, and industry partners to connect and collaborate. Organized by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, GATE, the Faculty of Education, and the VPR Office, Research Week 2025 highlights the innovative work being done across disciplines.

Monday, Oct 27, 12:00–1:15 pm – How to Become a Post Doc Luncheon – This luncheon offers graduate students valuable insight into the next step in their research journey: postdoctoral fellowships.  Dr. Chris Yost will moderate a panel discussion featuring four esteemed Postdoc students sharing their insights on the theme 'How to become a Postdoc?', with their insights on the Postdoc experience. This event is ideal for PhD students interested in this career path. This event provides a unique opportunity for PhD students and researchers to connect, explore collaborative opportunities, and network.  In ED 114.  Register here.

Wednesday, Oct 29, 1:00–5:00 pm – Student Research Showcase – The Student Research Showcase highlights the exciting work of University of Regina students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Showcase provides students with an opportunity to strengthen presentation skills, receive feedback, and share their research with peers, faculty, and the wider campus community.  The afternoon begins with a guest speaker, followed by two dynamic opportunities:

  • Poster Competition (Undergraduate & Graduate Students): Posters will be on display in the RIC Atrium from 1:00–3:00 p.m.  Students will be available for questions from 1:30-3:00 p.m., with judging taking place from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three posters. Details and registration can be found here.  Deadline for registration: October 3.
  • Graduate Student Lightning Talks: Graduate students will present their research in concise, engaging 5-minute presentations supported by 2–3 slides. Cash prizes will be awarded. Details and registration can be found here. Deadline for registration: October 3.
  • Reception and Winner Announcements at 4:30 pm in RIC Atrium.

Thursday, Oct 30, 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm – Postdoc Showcase – This event celebrates the contributions of postdoctoral fellows to the University of Regina’s research community. The Showcase will feature 10 short presentations highlighting diverse postdoc research projects, accompanied by a rolling slide show of all UR Postdoctoral fellows research. This event underscores the importance of postdoctoral research and builds stronger connections within and beyond campus.  Hosted by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR). Friday, Oct 31, 12:00–1:30 pm – Grad Networking Lunch – Hosted by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR), Graduate Advanced Training and Entrepreneurship (GATE), and the University of Regina Graduate Students’ Association (URGSA). Location TBD. Register here.

Wednesday, Nov 5, 6:30–9:30 pm – A Taste of Research – Faculty researchers and select student researchers showcase their research at this event, while student researchers share their posters in the lobby during the reception. Hosted by the University of Regina. In Darke Hall. Find out more here.
