Daryl Hepting is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Regina. He was born and raised in Regina where completed his BSc (Honours) and MSc degrees.

He completed his PhD at Simon Fraser University with the dissertation "A New Paradigm for Exploration in Computer-Aided Visualization".

Before beginning his doctoral studies, he spent a year working on Benoit B Mandlebrot's Fractals Project at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Centre and Yale University. After his studies, spent a year working in industry in Vancouver before returning to Regina as a faculty member.

His research is focused on the development of tools to help people manage, navigate, and share complex information spaces in application areas as diverse as environmental decision support, eyewitness identification, and multimedia composition.

Hepting has taken a leading role in the areas of outreach and education. He is a member of CIPS (Canadian Information Processing Society) and a senior member of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery). He is interested in Human-Centered Computing, Computer Science Education, and Computers & Society.
