Professor Jennifer Llewellyn to deliver the 2022 Law Foundation of Saskatchewan Lecture
Media are invited to the 2022 Dr. Gordon Wicijowski Law Foundation of Saskatchewan Lecture featuring Professor Jennifer Llewellyn, Chair in Restorative Justice and Director of the Restorative Research, Innovation & Education Lab at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University.
An international subject matter expert in the area of restorative justice, Professor Llewellyn has advised many projects including the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission and the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission. She was an appointed expert in the review of United Nations Basic Principles for the Use of Restorative Justice in Criminal Matters, and she has advised the Assembly of First Nations and Canadian Truth and Reconciliation Commission on the response to residential school abuse.
Professor Llewellyn was awarded the National Ron Wiebe Restorative Justice Award from Correctional Services Canada in 2015 and was the 2018 recipient of the Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council National Impact Award, the highest award for research achievement and impact in Canada.
Llewellyn’s public lecture will examine the ways our approaches to policing and public safety must transform in response to justice movements such as Me Too and Black Lives Matter, as well as reports from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
