U Prairie Challenge kicks off with Rams-Huskies rivalry during Football Weekend in Saskatchewan
The University of Regina (U of R) Rams and the University of Saskatchewan (USask) Huskies will go head-to-head this Saturday, September 17 at Mosaic Stadium as part of the official celebration to launch the inaugural U Prairie Challenge presented by SaskMilk.
This exciting event is part of Football Weekend in Saskatchewan at the REAL District.
On Friday, September 16 at 7:30 p.m., the Saskatchewan Roughriders play their Lights Out Game against the Edmonton Elks. The Regina Thunder and Saskatoon Hilltops will battle it out junior-football style Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m., ahead of the 7 p.m. showdown between the Rams and Huskies.

The festivities don’t stop at football. Between Saturday’s games, Confederation Park to the west of Mosaic Stadium will come alive with the Alumni & Community tailgate party presented by URAA (University of Regina Alumni Association). From 4-6:45 p.m., there will be food, games and give-aways – and a performance by singer and rapper Roy Wood$ on the Original 16 Stage! Saskatchewan Roughriders Mitchell Picton and Dan Clark will be there to sign autographs and Saskatchewan country music artist, Justin LaBrash will play the half-time show.
The U Prairie Challenge, a year-long, points-based competition between the U of R and USask across 11 varsity sports, is set to become an annual affair. It got underway on Sept. 2, with the U of R Cougars women’s soccer and the USask Huskies playing to a 3-3 draw at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon.
