Chancellor’s Scholarship now accepting applications

Release Date: October 15, 2024 1:24 PM

The University of Regina Chancellor’s Scholarship, now in its second year, is open for new applications on October 15. The Chancellor’s Scholarship, created by Chancellor Pam Klein, was established to support the post-secondary journeys of high-achieving new undergraduate students.

The Chancellor’s Scholarship is awarded annually to 14 students who meet specific criteria, including a minimum admission average of 95 per cent.

“Recipients of the Chancellor’s Scholarship are passionate about learning, dedicated to community service, and engaged leaders,” said Pam Klein, Chancellor of the University of Regina. “The exponential growth of this program, adding 14 new recipients each year, will advance Saskatchewan’s need for career-ready graduates and innovators.”

From full-ride scholarships worth up to $40,000 each, to on-campus housing for scholarship recipients in their first year, academic mentorship, and leadership programming, the Chancellor’s Scholarship offers a unique combination of support for recipients.

“The Chancellor’s Scholarship is the University of Regina’s most prestigious undergraduate entrance scholarship,” said Dr. Jeff Keshen, President of the University of Regina. “As students transition from high school to post-secondary studies, university is a time of tremendous personal and professional development. The Chancellor’s Scholarship provides these students with the resources and guidance they need to excel in their studies and, ultimately, make a real difference in our communities and society.”

The Chancellor’s Scholarship is available to domestic students who apply directly from high school or as a high school graduate who have not completed any post-secondary courses (other than courses completed during high school, such as the High School Accelerated Program).

Donors contributing to this scholarship are part of the Chancellor’s Community, a philanthropic network of individuals who are dedicated to transforming the lives of talented U of R students through education, breaking barriers, and empowering the next generation of leaders.

“Through their generosity and participation, members of the Chancellor’s Community play a vital role in helping make the University of Regina an even more desirable option for domestic students who have demonstrated outstanding scholarly aptitude in high school,” said Klein.

The deadline to apply for the Chancellor’s Scholarship is December 15, 2024. For more information, visit Chancellor's Scholarship | University of Regina (uregina.ca)

About the University of Regina

2024 marks our 50th anniversary as an independent university (although our roots as Regina College date back more than a century!). As we celebrate our past, we work towards a future that is as limitless as the prairie horizon. We support the health and well-being of our more than 17,200 students and provide them with hands-on learning opportunities to develop into career-ready graduates – more than 92,000 alumni enrich communities in Saskatchewan and around the globe. Our research enterprise has grown to 21 research centres and includes 9 Canada Research Chairs. Our campuses are on Treaties 4 and 6 - the territories of the nêhiyawak, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakoda peoples, and the homeland of the Michif/Métis nation. We seek to grow our relationships with Indigenous communities to build a more inclusive future.

Let's go far, together.
