University of Regina selected to participate in the Dimensions Canada recognition program

Release Date: July 17, 2025 11:47 AM

The University of Regina is proud to have been selected as one of only 18 postsecondary institutions across Canada to participate in the second cohort of the Dimensions Canada recognition program.

“This is more than an institutional achievement. It is a national recognition of our deep and long-standing commitment to building a truly equitable, diverse, and inclusive community,” says Dr. Jeff Keshen, President and Vice-Chancellor.

Dimensions Canada publicly recognizes postsecondary institutions seeking to increase equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in their environments and across the research ecosystem. The program helps support equitable access to funding opportunities, increase equitable and inclusive participation, and embed EDI-related considerations in research design and practices.

The Dimensions program is a flagship Tri-Agency initiative, supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), designed to help post-secondary institutions transform their research cultures. The goal is to foster the research excellence, innovation, and creativity that can only flourish when every voice is heard, valued, and empowered to contribute.

“For every member of our University community, this initiative will help create a more welcoming and supportive environment in our classrooms, labs, and offices, says Dr. Keshen. “It will strengthen our ability to attract and retain top students and scholars from around the world, and enhance the impact of our research by ensuring it is informed by a diversity of perspectives.”

Over the next 12 to 18 months, the U of R will embark on the next phase of this work and pursue Stage 1 (Foundation) of the Dimensions Canada recognition program. This process will involve a comprehensive self-assessment, led by a dedicated team that will engage students, faculty, and staff across the U of R’s campuses.
