Glossary Term: Base Budgeted Positions (relating to Position Control)

Definition:

academic, administrative or support positions which are long term (effectively permanent) for which base funding has been provided. Deans and directors can request new base budgeted position provided that proper approval has been received. Funding for base budget positions can be derived from allocations of existing budgets within the unit or centrally as approved by the Vice-President (Academic) or Vice-President (Administration). Once initial funding has been established, any subsequent salary adjustments resulting from increments or negotiated salary increases are funded centrally from funds budgeted for this purpose.
