Welcome to the inaugural edition of Prairie Perspectives: Social Work News! I’m thrilled to introduce this new platform for sharing the many exciting things happening across the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Regina.
This newsletter is an opportunity to spotlight the research, teaching, and community engagement that define our work. You’ll hear stories from our students, alumni, faculty, and partners — stories that speak to the heart of social work and its impact across Saskatchewan and beyond. From innovative projects to alumni achievements, student experiences to program updates, Prairie Perspectives will bring you into the vibrant and growing world of social work education and practice.
We are launching this newsletter on the heels of a milestone year — our 50th anniversary. Our recent anniversary galas in Regina and Saskatoon were not only celebrations, but moments of reflection and connection. They brought together social workers, students, alumni, community members, and partners from across the province to honour our past, recognize our growth, and envision the future of our profession.
As we move forward, I am inspired by the dedication, compassion, and innovation I see in our community every day. I hope this newsletter helps you feel more connected to that work — and reminds you that you are an important part of our faculty’s story.
