Spring 2022 Convocation FAQ

I said I was attending and now I am unable to. What should I do?

Kindly send an email to ur.graduation@uregina.ca to let us know you are no longer attending.

For two weeks after the ceremony, you can pick-up your parchment at the Registrar's Office, AH 210. You will need to show government-issued photo id. Any parchments remaining after two weeks, will be mailed to the current Mailing Address in UR Self-Service. Ensure your mailing address is correct. You will be responsible for remailing/reprinting costs for any returned or lost packages.

If you would like someone else to pick up your package for you, complete the Third-Party release form and from your uregina.ca email address, send to ur.graduation@uregina.ca. Your person will need to show government-issued photo ID upon pick-up.

How much does it cost to attend Convocation?

There are no additional charges associated with Convocation. The costs, including your gown and hood, are covered by your Academic Services fee.

How many guest can I bring? Will they need tickets?

Two (2) guest tickets are guaranteed to each graduand, but must be ordered by May 20. The limit on guest tickets until May 20 was determined by the number of anticipated attendees and the venue capacity. A ticket link was sent to graduands' prefered and uregina.ca email accounts on May 6.

Due to fire code regulations all guests, including children and infants, require a ticket. Should any additional guest tickets be available after the deadline, graduands will be notified via email on May 24.

A live feed of the ceremony will be posted to www.urconvocation.ca so family and friends can watch and cheer you on in the comfort of their homes.

What health measures will be in place for the ceremony?

Safety is important to us. The University of Regina will make decisions based on the latest public health information. Convocation will be a mask-friendly event.

How do I order my gown?

If you indicated you are attending the ceremony you will receive a link to the gown portal via your preferred email or uregina.ca email account in April. It is important to reserve your gown by the deadline to guarantee a gown is available for you and to ensure that it fits properly.

I have an outstanding account that I can’t pay by the deadline. What can I do?

Speak with Financial Services to set up a payment schedule. You can still graduate and participate in Convocation like all the other graduands, but the parchment case you are given will contain only a reminder to pay your account. Once your account is paid, notify ur.graduation@uregina.ca. Your parchment will be available for pick-up at the Registrar’s Office, AH 210 or you can request it to be mailed to you when your account is cleared.

I will be receiving more than one credential. What do I do?

If you are receiving two or more degrees/diplomas/certificates at the same ceremony, you will only cross the stage once. All earned credentials will be mentioned at the time of crossing. If you are graduating from more than one faculty, contact ur.graduation@uregina.ca to let us know which faculty you'd like to cross with. You will wear the regalia designated for your highest credential.

Where can I park?

Parking information to follow.

I said I wasn’t coming to Convocation, but now I think I’d like to go. Is it too late?

Email ur.graduation@uregina.ca to update your RSVP as soon as possible (no later than April 1). The preparations for the Convocation ceremony are immense, and involve the whole University, so we need to know well in advance how many graduates we will be welcoming and who they are.

Do I have a choice about which Convocation ceremony I attend?

No. The Convocation you attend is determined by the date you apply for graduation, the term in which your credential is conferred, and which credential you are recieving.

How can I attend the ceremony from afar?

For those graduates unable to travel or uncomfortable with attendance at an in-person event, we invite their attendance virtually and the link to the live-feed will be posted to www.urconvocation.ca prior to the event

You can share your accomplishments online and at home by using the virtual swag to show your U of R pride.
