Registration and Withdrawal
Once you are a University of Regina student you can register for your classes through Visual Schedule Builder (VSB).
How to Search for Classes
The easiest and most robust way to search for classes is through Visual Schedule Builder (VSB). If you have never used VSB, please read this manual (How to use VSB) to get started.
Alternatively, you can log into UR Self-Service and complete the following steps:
- Click on Student Services
- Click on Registration
- Click on Search for Classes
- Choose the Term
- Search for courses by subject, and narrow down your search by course number, title, instructor, day or time
- Click on Class Search
- Click on the Course Reference Number (CRN) to find more information
- Click on the Course Title
- Availability in the class
- Restrictions on the class
- Click on View Catalog Entry
- Course Description
- Prerequisites
- The course CRN will be needed to register in a class
- Click on the Course Title

All graduate students will have a time-ticket that opens at 8 a.m. on the first day of registration.

How to Register in a Class
- Log into UR Self-Service
- Click on Registration at the main Student Services menu
- Click on Check Your Registration Status
You can view your Time Ticket, Holds, Academic Standing… and more!
If you are ready to register and know your CRN’s, then… - Go back to the Registration menu and click on Add/Drop/Search for Classes
- Select a Term
- Scroll down to Add Class Worksheet
- Enter your CRN’s in the boxes, starting from the left
- Click on Submit Changes
- Continue to register for classes until all of your selected courses appear in the Current Schedule section
- Registration Waitlists
Once enrolment for a class has reached its capacity, the waitlist will be activated.

If you receive an error when trying to register to a course, it could be for multiple reasons. Visit Registration Errors for information on what to do and the types of errors you may get.
How to Withdraw from a Class
- Log into UR Self-Service
- Click on Registration at the main Student Services menu
- Click on Check Your Registration Status
You can view your Time Ticket, Holds, Academic Standing… and more!
If you are ready to register and know your CRN’s, then… - Go back to the Registration menu and click on Add/Drop/Search for Classes
- Select a Term
- Scroll down to Current Schedule
- Click on the drop down arrow and choose the available option to drop/withdraw
- Click on Submit Changes
- Refund dates and withdrawal deadlines
How to View your Schedule
- Log into UR Self-Service
- Scroll to the top and click on Student Services
- Click on Registration
- Click on Detailed Class Schedule

Class Sections Requiring Special Approval
There are some class sections that require special approval for the faculty. These may include:
- Internships
- Practicums
- Work-Terms
- Challenge Examinations
- Supplemental Examinations
- High School (Dual Credit) Sections
- Off-campus courses where registration begins in June
- Certain Media, Art, and Performance courses
- CRNs with a Special Approval code
These types of courses are not available for viewing or registration in UR Self-Service.
You can view these courses by selecting Class Sections Requiring Staff Registration from the left-hand menu above under Course Schedules. Select a Term and then search for the specific class.
You can register in these courses by contacting your Academic Advising Office.
