Health and Dental Plan
Family add-on coverage is available for your spouse and/or dependent children. This coverage does not carry forward and must be applied for and paid each fall.
Steps to request add-on coverage: A URL will be provided once available.
Eligible Fall 2025 students are automatically charged the fees and enrolled.
The plan for full-year coverage (Sept 1 – August 31) is $225.85 ($101.15 for Health coverage and $124.70 for dental coverage).
You may choose to opt-out, if you have comparable alternative coverage, such as a spouse, parents, or employer plan. (Note: Saskatchewan Health or International Emergency Insurance are not considered comparable alternative coverage). Your opt-out can be:
- Permanent – you remain opted out for future terms until you apply and pay to re-enrol.
- Annual – you are opted out for the current benefit year only.
Proof of alternative coverage is required.
Separate opt-out requests are required for health coverage and dental coverage.
Not allowed in the Winter/Spring/Summer terms. Only Fall term opt-outs allowed.
Deadline to opt-out is September 30, 2025. No exceptions will be made if deadline is missed.

U-Pass
To activate your U-Pass:
- Download and install the UMO app
- A benefit code will be available on your UR Self Service Account
- Log into the app and redeem the code
You are only eligible to opt-out if you meet the following criteria:
- Live within Regina’s designated opt-out zone
- Live outside Regina city limits
- On an exchange program
- Have a medical disability
- University employee
- Nursing practicum, Education internship placement, Master of Health Administration cohort students
