What are Microcredentials?
Professional Development Microcredentials include Certificates, Microcertificates and Collaborative Certifications. A professional microcredential is a short, targeted certification that verifies a learner’s mastery of a specific skill or competency.
Professional Certificates involve comprehensive learning of a knowlege area, whereas microcertificates focus on targeted real-world professional skills.
Unlike traditional degrees, microcredentials are:
- Flexible: Courses are offered remotely and in-person
- Fast: Can be completed in as little as four months and most courses are 14 hours over two or three days
- Focused: Content targets knowledge and skills for the workplace
Collaborative Certifications are microcredentials offered by other institutions with which we have partnered.
