Comfort Hypnosis
Alumni Connection: Amy Nelson-Mile BA'86
Faculty: Arts
Region: Regina, Saskatchewan
Location: 1408 Elphinstone Street, Regina
Category: Healthcare, Wellness & Fitness
I'm a certified medical hypnotist who practises exclusively online. I have special certifications in smoking cessation and insomnia as well as additional training in working with autoimmune diseases and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. In addition to seeing clients with various medical issues, I also work with those who have issues with stress and anxiety. I work exclusively with adults and have hundreds of hours of experience. My approach is gentle, relaxed, and non-directive. I am a member of the International Certification Board of Coaches and Hypnotists (ICBCH) and the International Medical and Dental Hypnotists Association (IMDHA). I begin my work with potential clients by having a brief (20 minute) complimentary consult call in which I learn what the potential client is hoping to have help with and I explain what can be expected. If it feels like a fit, we can schedule our sessions (I usually suggest three, but that is not mandatory). In our time together I listen to what clien ts would like me to work with, provide hypnosis, help clients discover and focus on the supports they already have, and teach self-hypnosis and other simple techniques. My goal is to help clients manage without me sooner rather than later. Hypnosis is a state of focussed concentration that is entirely natural. Hypnotists help their clients to achieve that state and then guide clients to use their imagination to bypass the conscious mind and engage their subconscious mind. In doing so, they can make more rapid changes than they could otherwise.

Shaolin Dragon Kenpo School
Alumni Connection: Scott Carson, BSc'03
Faculty: Science
Region: Regina, Saskatchewan
Location: 1761 Wallace Street, Regina
Category: Healthcare, Wellness & Fitness
Shaolin Dragon Kenpo School teaches a well-rounded martial art system for students of all ages and abilities. The core of our system emphasizes movement in the most efficient way to create strikes and kicks with blinding speed and tremendous amounts of power. The idea is, if a strike is made, then there will be a reaction. Based on that reaction, a follow-up occurs. This applies to both the offensive and defensive motions. Because our system has both Chinese and Japanese influences, your training begins with the "hard" Japanese Karate style that contains the usual blocks, strikes, and kicks. Using speed and power, you will study "sets" that can handle just about every possible situation. Then, you will be introduced to the "soft" Chinese style. You start training by activating all muscle groups from head to toe. Then, push the limits of your flexibility and balance. Lastly, rapid fire kicking builds cardiovascular strength, endurance, and agility. Teachings are based on real-world situations. No matter why you train - street defense, art forms, weapons, tournament fighting, or just fitness - you will learn and apply martial arts history as you grow in a complete art form. With key basic techniques studied and practiced, we apply them to versatile sets that will prepare you for any confrontational situation. We call it AKAD - Advanced Kenpo Assault Defense. Whether an attack comes by way of strike, kick, or weapon, you will be prepared to defend and adapt ... fast.
