  7. Max & Pearl Herman Lecture Series

Please join us at the next lecture in the Max and Pearl Herman Lecture Series in Judaic Studies.
The 2026 Lecture features author Dr. Norman Ravvin, author of Who Gets In: An Immigration Story (University of Regina Press).

Dr. Norman Ravvin will discuss this deeply personal family memoir, which tells the story of his grandfather’s struggle against xenophobic and anti-Semitic government policies, and investigates the true character of nation-building in Canada, directly challenging its reputation as a benevolent, tolerant, and multicultural country.

Date: Wednesday, May 27, 2026
Location: Darke Hall, 2255 College Avenue
Doors Open: 6 p.m.
Lecture and Q & A with Dr. Ravvin: 7 p.m. | Livestream option available
Coffee Reception and book signing following the lecture
The Dr. John Archer Library & Archives will have a selection of texts from the Max & Pearl Herman Judaic Studies Collection, as well as a curated archival display from the Archives' collections, on view in the Darke Hall Lobby.  Complimentary copies of curated titles from that collection will also be available in a booklet for attendees.
