Research Impact Award

The Research Impact Award is established to recognize and celebrate research excellence at the Hill Levene School of Business, specifically research that makes a positive impact on our community, as well as the body of knowledge in the respective area of research. While celebrating research excellence, the materials required to be submitted may also serve useful in preparation for tenure and / or promotion, University or national level awards.

Dr. Eman Almehdawe

Dr. Almehdawe is the recipient of the 2025 CPA Research Impact Award. Over the past three years, Dr. Almehdawe has built a strong research program at the intersection of optimization, data analytics, and sustainability, with applications in technician routing, dangerous goods transportation, and electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure planning. Her work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including Risk Analysis, International Journal of Systems Science: Operations & Logistics, and Transportmetrica A: Transport Science. Her research excellence is supported by $992,600 in external Tri-Council funding, including two NSERC Alliance grants, an NSERC RTI grant, and an ongoing NSERC Discovery Grant.

Dr. Almehdawe’s work has generated significant community and policy impact in Saskatchewan and beyond. Through an NSERC Alliance partnership with the Regina Food Bank, she develops predictive and optimization models to improve food distribution and strengthen local food security. Her prior collaborations with industry partners have improved operational efficiency for Saskatchewan organizations, while her consulting work with Transport Canada has supported evidence-based decision-making on the safe transportation of dangerous goods.

Her national and professional reputation is further reflected in her election as a councillor of the Canadian Operational Research Society and her supervision of post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, and research staff.

This award recognizes Dr. Almehdawe’s commitment to integrating rigorous scholarship with applied research that delivers measurable benefits to industry, government, and community partners.

Dr. Helen Huang

Dr. Huang is the recipient of the 2024 CPA Research Impact Award. In the past three years, Dr. Huang published 7 peer-reviewed articles, two of which are of exceptional quality (A), two are of good quality (B) and one is of moderate quality (C), based on the current Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) Journal Quality List. One of her research papers received the Best Paper Award from a respected international conference (the 20th International Symposium on Financial Systems and Risk Management). She presented her research in conferences and other academic institutions. She served on the Merit Review Committee for SSHRC Insight Development Grants three times. She also served as a referee for a tenure and promotion application from Carleton University.

Dr. Grant A. Wilson

Dr. Wilson is the recipient of the 2023 CPA Research Impact Award. In the last two years, Dr. Wilson has published 18 peer-reviewed papers, two book chapters, four news articles, 13 research white papers, and delivered two peer-reviewed conference presentations. His research was also disseminated to practitioner audiences through media (e.g., National Post, The Globe & Mail, The World Economic Forum, etc.). He delivered eight invited research presentations to industry (e.g., BE Power Equipment, SaskTel, and Women Entrepreneurs Saskatchewan) and at other academic institutions (e.g., California Polytechnic State University, Rowan University, and San Diego State University). He supervised a number of students, and received funding from external sources (e.g., Enactus Canada, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, RBC Women in Leadership, and SSHRC) and internal sources.

Dr. Sean Tucker

Dr. Tucker is the recipient of the 2022 CPA Research Impact Award. Sean is passionate about preventing injuries in workplaces. His early research focused on young workers and the role of leadership in health and safety. In recent years, he has shifted to applied, collaborative projects with the WorkSafe Saskatchewan, labour unions, and other provincial stakeholders. In recognition of these contributions, Sean received the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal (2022), U of R President’s Award for Health and Safety (2022), and Saskatchewan Federation of Labour, Bob Sass Award (2018)

Social Impact Award

As part of the Hill Levene School of Business’ commitment to advancing societal impact through research, the Dean’s Office provides financial support for projects that align with the School’s Societal Impact Plan priorities. This initiative supports research that drives positive change in communities, industries, and institutions by addressing areas such as social inclusion, sustainability, ethical leadership, Indigenous partnerships, and equitable economic development.

Dr. Yu (Jade) Han

Dr. Han is the recipient of the Societal Impact Award for 2025-2026. She was awarded 5,000 for her project "The Impact of Work-Integrated Learning on International Students' Career Competencies and Outcomes."

Experiential Learning Award

The Experiential Learning Award recognizes outstanding achievement in the design and delivery of experiential learning at the Hill Levene School of Business. This award celebrates innovative and impactful approaches to co-curricular, work-integrated, curriculum-integrated, research-based, and community-engaged learning that enhance the student experience. One award is presented annually to an individual who demonstrates excellence in leadership and innovation for the benefit of undergraduate and/or graduate students. The recipient will also be nominated for the University of Regina’s Award of Excellence in Experiential Learning.

Dr. Tatiana Levit

Dr. Tatiana Levit is the recipient of the 2026 Hill Levene Excellence in Experiential Learning Award.

Recognitions

  • Dr. Erica Carelton received the outstanding paper in the 2023 Emerald Literati Awards for her article "Mindfulness and stereotype threat in social media: Unexpected effects for women’s leadership aspirations".
  • Dr. Shelagh Campbell and Dr. Saqib Khan received the "Best Developmental Paper" from the British Academy of Management for their work: The impact of Islamic Work Ethic on employee voice in the banking sector.
  • Dr. Sanobar Siddiqui received Peer Recognition from the Canadian Academic Accounting Association.
  • Dr. Paul Sinclair received the CTL President's Teaching Scholar Award.
  • Dr. Chris Street received the following recognitions for his paper "Turnover and Recommendation Intentions in the Post-Implementation Period of Radical Decentralization":
    • Best Paper Special Issue, Modern Issues in Applied Management and Leadership, Journal of Behavioral and Applied Management.
    • Paper of the Year, Journal of Behavioral and Applied Management (2022).
