Research Grants

Research Grants: As part of the Hill Levene School of Business's plans for building research capacity and continuing to demonstrate our relevance in the province of Saskatchewan and beyond, the Dean’s Office provides financial support for research projects that are aligned with the faculty’s strategic plan. The 2024 recipients of the Research Grants are:

Internal Research Grant Holders

Dr. Erica Carleton

For her project "Gender Differences between Entitlement and Backlash towards Women Leaders" with collaborator Dr. Megan Walsh from Saint Mary's University. Dr. Carleton was the principal investigator on a Strategic Plan Aligned Research Grant for $10,000 funded by Hill Levene School of Business for 2022-2024 for this project. 

Dr. Shasanka Chalise

 For his research “Content Analysis of Indigenization Specific Communication Signals in Academia.” 

Dr. Magdalena Cismaru

For her research “Re-engagement of Former Volunteers of Community Organizations”

Dr. Amanda Hancock, Dr. Erica Carleton

For their research "Developmental relationships at work: Developing and validating a scale for sponsorship."  They were awarded a $7,000 Research Strategic Alingend Grant for 2025-2026.

Dr. Helen Huang

For her research "A Dynamic Analysis on Information Quantity, Limited Participation and Equilibrium Pricing: Based on Probabilistic Attitudes."  She was awarded a $7,000 Research Strategic Alingend Grant for 2025-2026.

Dr. Abiodum Isiaka

For her research "Exploring the role of sustainability in the perceptions and intentions of business students to major in accounting."  She was awarded a $4,000 Research Strategic Alingend Grant for 2025-2026.

For her research “Does Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosure reflect community engagement? An evaluation of the SASB disclosure of companies in the extractive industry”

Dr. Saqib Khan

For his research "AI-Driven Agricultural Resilience: Financial Inclusion, Climate Risk Forecasting, and Weather Indexed Hedging Tools for Smallholder and Next-Generation Farmers in Canada He was awarded a $5,000 Research Strategic Alingend Grant for 2025-2026.

Dr. Tatiana Levit

For her research “Integration of lessons from 12-step programs and Social Marketing”

Dr. Sanobar Siddiqui

For her research "Assessing the Impact of Double Materiality on Sustainability Reporting: A Case Study of Canada’s Food Processing Industry."  She was awarded a $2,500 Research Strategic Alingend Grant for 2025-2026.

For her research “Assessing Canadian companies’ progress in integrating UN Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs)”    

For the project "Integration of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in the Business School Curriculum." Dr. Sanobar Siddiqui was the principal investigator on a Special Call of Research Grant for $7,200 for 2022-2024 for this project. 

 

         

Dr. Arturo Rubalcava

For his research "Effects of COVID-19 on issue costs of Canadian seasoned equity offerings."  He was awarded a $3,000 Research Strategic Alingend Grant for 2025-2026.

Dr. Grant Wilson

For his research “Roles of political affiliations, open-mindedness, scientific knowledge, overconfidence, and marketing value propositions in consumers’ willingness to accept and pay for nuclear power in Canada and the U.S.”

Dr. Zhou Zhang

For his research “Sustainable Investment in Public versus Private Firms”

External Research Grant Holders


 Dr. Eman Almehdawe

  • Dr. Eman Almehdawe was the co-principal investigator of the NSERC Grant for $707,600 for 2023 for the project "Electric vehicle infrastructcure design, optimization, and emission evaluations toward full-scale net-zero transportation sector."
  • Dr. Eman Almehdawe was the principal investigator on an NSERC Discovery Grant for $184,000 for the project “Queueing Models and Optimization for Healthcare System Design and Improvement.”

Dr. Shasanka Chalise 

  • Dr. Shasanka Chalise was an investigator on a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Grant for $71,814 for 2025-2027 for the project "DEI Disclosures and Employee Outcomes: Role of Source, Content and Context of Disclosures."

Dr. Magdalena Cismaru

  • Dr. Magdalena Cismaru was an investigator on a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Grant for $70,318  for 2025-2027 for the project "Transforming Higher Education with Artificial Intelligence: How Can Universities Optimize the Shift?"

Dr. Yu (Jade) Han

  • Dr. Yu (Jade) Han was an investigator on a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Grant for $61,195 for 2025-2027 for the project "Enhancing career adaptability and resilience: An evidence-based competency training program for international students in Canada."
  • Dr. Yu (Jade) Han was a co-investigator on a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Grant for $173,311 for 2022-2026 for the project "Promoting Retention, Inclusion, and Integration of International Graduates" with Dr. Greg Sears and Dr. Daniel Gulanowski of Carleton University and Dr. Eddy Ng of Queens University.
  • Dr. Yu (Jade) Han was the principal investigator on a Strategic Plan Aligned Research Grant for $9,450 for 2022-2024 for the project "Career adaptability and career resilience of business students: A Longitudinal study of antecedents and consequences."

Dr. Amanda Hancock

  • Dr. Amanda Hancok was the principal investigator on anSocial Sciences and Humanities Research Council Insight Development Grant for $182,622 for 2024-2028 for the project "Leader Presenteeism: A person-centred investigation of well-being and performance."

Dr. Abiodun Isiaka

  • Dr. Abiodun Isiaka was the co-recipient of the CPA-CAAA Research Grant for 2024 for the project "Can Canadian Universities Deliver the Sustainable Development goals? A review of the current state of implementation and suggestions on the way forward."

Dr. Alexandra Lefcoe

  • Dr. Alexandra Lefcoe in an investigator on a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council grant for $71,189 for for the project "When positivity becomes toxic: A study of the proximal and distal outcomes of toxic positivity in the workplace."

Dr. Peter Moroz

  • Dr. Peter Moroz was a co-principal investigator on a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Grant for $25,000 for 2023 for the project "The International Academy of Research in Indigenous Management and Organizational Studies" with Carleton University, York University, University of Ottawa and Dalhousie University.

Dr. Sanobar Siddiqui

  • Dr. Sanobar Siddiqui was a collaborator on a MITACS Grant for $15,000 for 2022 for the project "Mitac Emmertech Research Project - Conexus Venture Capital Inc."
  • Dr. Sanobar Siddiqui was the principal investigator on a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Explorer Grant for $6,000 for 2022-2024 for the project "Trends in Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainability Reporting and ESG- A bibliometric analysis."
  • Dr. Sanobar Siddiqui was the principal investigator on a Canadian Academic Accounting Association Grant for $10,000 for 2022-2024 for the project "Sustainability Accounting: A bibliometric analysis to understand the state of the research today" with Dr. Leanne Keddie of Carleton University.

Dr. Andrew Stevens

  • Dr. Andrew Stevens was the principal investigator on an Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Insight Grant for $99,000 for 2021-2024 for the project “Is everyone equal in the COVID recovery?” with Dr. Catherine E. Connelly.

Dr. Sean Tucker

  • Dr. Sean Tucker was a collaborator on a CIHR Grant for $243,802 for 2022-2025 for the project "Working in the time of COVID-19: Exploring the effect of COVID-19 policies on violence, bullying and harassment in the service sector in British Columbia" with Drs. Christopher McLeod, Kathleen Deering, Luis Aguiar, Anne Keefe, Andrea Krusi, and Shahirose Sadrudin Premji from University of British Columbia.
