Chasity

Who are you and where are you from?

My name is Chasity Delorme. I was born and raised in Regina, Sk. Am a member of Home Reserve – Cowessess First Nation and a single parent of two children.

What are you studying?

I am studying Intercultural Leadership and Indigenous Studies.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

In 5 years I see myself working for a corporate company working in Community Relations, and building bridges between First Nations Agencies and Non-First Nations Agencies.

What makes you successful academically?

Taking and having control of my education and my daily schedule. I like to make sure my school schedule works with my family life. Being a single mother has major responsibilities that sometimes make it hard to succeed. In order to be successful in my academically and home life, I make sure I register for classes as soon my Time Ticket is available.

If you have one, what is your summer job? What do you hope to gain from it?

I have been offered two jobs: Farm Credit Canada and Regina Friendship Centre. I hope to gain more leadership skills and obtain skills that will allow me help create bridges in community organizations.

What would be your message to those following in your footsteps?

Take control of your education don’t wait for opportunities to come to you, go out and find them. Balance your life evenly spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. If you want it bad enough, your universe will let it happen.
