Starting a Portfolio
Career Development Session - Free for U of R Students, Alumni & Employees
Not sure why or how to develop a portfolio?
- A portfolio is a collection of artifacts about you! They provide reviewers with evidence of your knowledge, skills and abilities, attitudes and other qualifications that you've acquired--through both academic and other learning experiences (e.g., volunteer and paid work).
- People in many fields develop portfolios for interviews, requests for academic credit (PLAR and RPL assessments) and other purposes.
- Attend this session to learn about developing specialized portfolios for specific purposes (e.g., employment or admissions interviews).
- Be able to clearly describe your learning (e.g., knowledge and skills) and present relevant examples from your academic, volunteer and employment experience (e.g., lab reports, papers, presentations).
