Sample Courses

EC&I 871AA

This course will connect the experiences of teachers with the lived experience of curriculum. Students will critically examine curriculum from epistemelogical, political, economic, ideological, techinical, personal, ethical and historic standpoints to address the two fundamental questions in curriculum studies: what/who determines content, and how should that content be taught?

EC&I 871EF

This course aims to explore the issues underlying the teaching of French in minority settings, where many languages are at play. Combining perspectives in psychology, sociolinguistics, and didactics, it will help students familiarize themselves with the works of researchers who focus on the plurilingual reality that characterizes today's minority settings.
