Fragile Flight: Bird Conservation in Human Spaces
Join the Dr. John Archer Library & Archives and several community partners for Fragile Flight: Bird Conservation in Human Spaces, an afternoon of learning, reflection, and creative engagement focused on the challenges birds face in built environments.
This free hybrid event explores the risks birds encounter in human spaces—including collisions with windows and other urban hazards—while highlighting conservation efforts that help protect them. Through art, interpretation, and educational displays, Fragile Flight invites participants to deepen their appreciation for birds and consider how we can create safer shared spaces.
During the event, attendees are invited to:
- explore information tables hosted by local organizations to learn more about bird conservation,
- discover practical ways to support bird-safe awareness and prevention efforts,
- view exhibitions connected to the theme,
- engage with artistic and educational displays that celebrate the beauty and importance of bird life, and
- be among the first to get involved in a new on-campus bird conservation initiative.
The event also takes place one day before World Migratory Bird Day on May 9. All members of the campus and broader community are welcome to attend.
