Art for Lunch: 2026 Summer Resident Artist and new MFA student

Please join the Department of Visual Arts this Friday for Art for Lunch. We are very happy to welcome Department of Visual Arts 2026 Summer Resident Artist Shane Crerar, and new Visual Arts MFA student Xiang Tan.

Shane J. Crerar completed his master's of science in mathematics from the University of Regina in December 2025 and is currently writing a book on mathematics and education (pre-order now!). His artwork is typically sculptural, but he freely works in all mediums. His presentation poses the question `how the hell did he get here?'

Xiang Tan is a first-year Visual Arts MFA student and emerging visual artist from China. Working primarily through photo-based painting, she wants to explore how girls and women navigate toward agency within patriarchal structures, examining objects that frame women’s lives as both cultural inheritance and constraint.

Date and Time: Friday, October 30, 2026, Noon-1:00pm

How to connect: RC 050 (lower level of Visual Arts area in the Riddell Centre)
