Art for Lunch: 2026 Summer Resident Artists

Please join the Department of Visual Arts this Friday for Art for Lunch. We are very happy to welcome two Department of Visual Arts 2026 Summer Resident Artists, Mika Abbott and Rozhin Tayaraniyousefabadi.

Mika Abbott (she/her) is an emerging lens-based artist and curator residing on Treaty 4 Territory. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Regina (2020). Her photography practice explores identity, memory, place, and the relationships between intimate spaces and cultural values through analogue photography, cyanotype, and expanding into documentary filmmaking.

Abbott is the Director-Curator at Neutral Ground Artist-Run Centre and Festival Curator and Coordinator with Nuit Blanche Regina. She is currently supported by SK Arts and the Saskatchewan Filmpool Cooperative's CAP Program for the creation of a documentary-short, Roxane.

Rozhin Tayaraniyousefabadi is a visual artist from Iran and currently based in Regina, Saskatchewan. Prior to an MFA at the University of Regina, she studied painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome. Working across painting, drawing, and collage, her practice folds references from personal archives, objects, and interior spaces to reimagine sites of habitation. Reflecting on changed and transitional spaces Tayaraniyousefabadi’s work offers layered processes and manifestations that engage stories and memories through arrangements as still life.
