Land Claims, Coffee, and Mayan Resistance
During his speaking tour across Turtle Island, Leocadio Juracán (Maya Kaqchikel), organizer with the Guatemalan Campesino Committee of the Highlands (CCDA), will update us about the realities of campesino and Indigenous communities in Guatemala, their fight against land dispossession and evictions, and the criminalization of those defending their territories and rights. Leocadio will also speak about the Café Justicia coffee export program coordinated among rural communities working with the CCDA.
Coffee, tea, and snacks will be provided.
