Public forum examines terrorism in Canada

Media Advisory Release Date: January 30, 2015 1:15 p.m.

Members of the media are invited to the latest installment in the ongoing discussion series Open Minds: Debating Public Issues. The series, which brings academics and members of the community together to discuss timely issues, will examine the nature of terrorism in Canada and how to respond to it in a forum entitled, “The New Global Security Agenda”.

Guest panelist, Dr. Wesley Wark, professor emeritus at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs, currently works as a co-director of a University of Ottawa research team studying the impact of national security and counter-terrorism policies on Canadians since 9/11. In addition, Dr. Wark served for two terms on the Prime Minister of Canada’s Advisory Council on National Security (2005-09) and served on the Advisory Committee to the President of the Canada Border Services Agency from 2006-10.
