Public talk explores the risks of advocacy for nonprofit and charitable organizations

Members of the media are invited to a public discussion on the challenges of advocacy work for Canadian charitable and nonprofit organizations. The discussion, led by University of Regina Department of Justice Studies professor Dr. Gloria DeSantis, will examine the rise in government surveillance of nonprofit and charitable activities, ongoing funding cuts to these organizations, and a general lack of clarity around the rules of engagement as reasons why advocacy has become such a risk.

Dr. DeSantis has researched extensively in the area of nonprofit sector advocacy in Canadian and has worked/volunteered in social justice-oriented nonprofit organizations over the past 25 years.
