Open Minds discussion examines media portrayals of crime

Members of the media are invited to the October installment of the Open Minds discussion series. This series, which brings University of Regina professors to the community to debate timely hot topics, will examine the impact of media portrayals of crime in a talk entitled - “Justice in Prime Time: Media and Crime Related Public Perceptions”.

The discussion will be led by Dr. Sarah Britto, Associate Professor in the Department of Justice Studies. With a focus on prime-time television, Dr. Britto will explore how the portrayal of crime in TV dramas shape public perceptions about the nature and prevalence of crime. Dr. Britto has done extensive research into understanding crime-related public perceptions and is the author of several academic articles on the subject.
