Today’s Big Thinking lecture POSTPONED: Alaa Murbit lecture postponed to Thursday, May 31, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Due to travel difficulties, today’s Big Thinking lecture with Dr. Alaa Murabit has been postponed to Thursday, May 31, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Riddell Centre - University Theatre (RC 170).

Dr. Murbit is a UN Global Sustainable Development Goal Advocate and High-Level Commissioner, will speak Thursday evening on the role of women in the peace process, as Canada’s largest gathering of the country’s brightest researchers, thinkers, and policy-makers continues at the University of Regina until June 1.

●    Leadership and Sustainable Peacebuilding:  Alaa Murabit, M.D., will focus on emerging security issues and on women’s local leadership that drives sustainable change. She will reflect on how strengthening the participation of women in peace and political processes has yielded results in her and other local and international activists’ work organizing for change. This is part of the week-long Big Thinking lecture series.

Congress 2018, hosted by the University of Regina, welcomes more than 5,000 academics from the social sciences and humanities. The “Gathering diversities” theme of the Queen City’s largest-ever conference, celebrates the history of Regina as a traditional place of gathering and rich buffalo hunting grounds for numerous Plains cultures and explores education as a new buffalo.
