University of Regina to host 1,500 Regina-area, high-school students at INSPIRE. 2019 Emerging Leaders Forum

Building on the University of Regina’s highly successful Inspiring Leadership Forum, the University is bringing together approximately 1,500 female students from grades 11 and 12 in the Regina area for INSPIRE. presented by SaskMilk; a new, half-day event designed to inspire, empower, and support them in their development as future leaders. Another 100 first and second-year university students are also expected to attend.

Media representatives are invited to cover the inaugural INSPIRE.

WHEN: Tuesday, November 5, 2019 (program begins at 9:45 a.m.)

WHERE: Main Auditorium, Conexus Arts Centre, Regina

In co-operation with Regina Public Schools, Regina Catholic School Division, and Luther College High School, this event will provide close to 1,600 emerging, young, female leaders with perspectives on the theme You Can Have Impact, from a trio of dynamic speakers:

  • Charmaine Crooks - Canadian athlete, five-time Olympian, International Olympic Committee member, member of Champions for Peace
  • Kelly Fraser – Inuk singer/songwriter, 2019 Indspire Award winner, 2018 Juno nominee, champion of Inuit rights
  • Jaclyn Corin – Parkland, Florida high school shooting survivor, lead organizer of the March For Our Lives, social justice advocate

***Some media restrictions will apply: speaker presentations cannot be recorded in their entirety due to contractual obligations (recording short segments is permitted); and video or still photography of the audience will be restricted to the first several rows due to privacy/permission concerns.

***A brief interview opportunity with the speakers, as well as University of Regina President, Dr. Vianne Timmons, will follow immediately after the conclusion of the program (approximately noon) in a designated area. Select high-school students will then be made available for interviews in the same area.
