2015-16 Infrastructure Projects

In 2015-16, the University is undertaking several infrastructure projects in addition to:

The additional infrastructure projects to be completed in 2015-16 include the following:

  • Reconfiguration of Lot 2 to create new visitor parking and allow for relocation of some permit parking from Lot 1.

    • Cost: $1.2 million
    • Status as of May 4, 2016: Underway
  • Addition of a new bus shelter on the north portion of University Drive East, to better serve First Nations University, and creation of street-side parking along University Drive East.

    • Cost: $175,000
    • Status as of May 4, 2016: Completed
  • Underground Pedestrian Corridor and Service Tunnel from Residence Hall A to Campion College (does not include Campion entryway and roadwork, which will occur in spring 2016).

    • Cost: $2 million
    • Status as of May 4, 2016: Underway
  • Replacement of the Language Institute roof.

    • Cost: $600,000
    • Status as of May 4, 2016: Completed
  • Redevelopment of the road south of the Language Institute and past the North Residence to improve pedestrian safety.

    • Cost: $130,000
    • Status as of May 4, 2016: Completed
  • Resurfacing of entrances to Parking Lots 13 and 17.

    • Cost: $125,000
    • Status as of May 4, 2016: Underway
  • Crosswalk lighting upgrade will add lighting to crosswalks on campus to increase safety of the pedestrian corridors.

    • Cost: $100,000
    • Status as of May 4, 2016: Underway
  • Concurrent landscaping in three areas:

    • the courtyard south of the Classroom Building and east of the Lab Building;
    • the areas north of the RIC building loading dock and south of the Classroom Building bus shelter; and,
    • the courtyard between the existing Daycare and College West.
      • Cost: $223,000 (Projects 1 & 2); $188,000 (Project 3)
